Plane ticket to Sacremento

So I just bought a plane ticket to Sacramento CA the other day for Jan. 7th. I will be putting my bicycle on the plane with a bag full of necessities and my MicroKorg synthesizer. When I get there me and Dave the drummer will meet up with the Ginger Ninjas(band). Then I think we will start getting prepared for our trip south towards Mexico by bus. Then when we reach Mexico we will start bicycling south towards Central America. We basically don't have a planned route or gig schedule but I guess we are just going to wing it. It's going to be spectacular.

Recently I have been thinking a lot about it and what the consequences could be. So I came down to figuring that 95% of the consequences would be really positive for my future and the rest could lead me in a not so good direction. But I have common sense and the ability to think for myself and I think I will be fine. If things start off rough and I am not having a good time I could always hop on a bus towards the USA and go on my own little tour around the states. But hopefully things won't turn out that way and all will be great.

Rosetta Stone

Hi Everyone. So on Thursday or Friday there was this huge ice storm and it apparently was a state of emergency in the Worcester area but I didn't pay much attention to it. So yesterday there was supposed to be a nativity festival program going on at a farm I usually volunteer at called the heifer project. But of course they lost power and had ice covering the farm so it was in no shape for a festival. I didn't know this until I rode my bike two town's away(8 miles one way) there figuring there would be nice warm food and lots of festivities going on. The bike ride their was like a dream come true. There were very few cars in site, the bad part was that there were glass-like ice shards and knife-like sticks and twigs and power lines on either side of the road. It was a real life obstacle course. I wish I brought my camera and took pictures of all of the damage caused by mother nature. There were whole trees covered in ice laying in the middle of the road. Some people put white towels or cloth on the power lines that got knocked down so people could see them. When I arrived I saw a big sign that said Closed, No Power. So I rode up the rode to get to the farm and it was also covered in huge trees covered in ice with a couple people cutting them with chain saws. So I figured I should really help because it's a nice thing to do and I didn't feel like heading home without helping out somehow. So I helped make piles of wood so it could get thrown into a fire eventually. Then I had some delicious turkey soup that was really hearty and it really hit the spot. After the soup I rode back which was 10 times faster than the ride up there.

So Today I bought a headset for my computer with a microphone attached to it so I could start practicing Spanish with Rosetta Stone. It's a great program that has helped me out. I have been on it for hours now and feel a little more comfortable with my Spanish speaking. My friend Flo has been really helping me a lot out as well. I teach her guitar and in return she teaches me Spanish since she is fluent in it. Her parents are from Argentina and she was just there for about a month.
So hopefully I learn enough Spanish in a short amount of time to start speaking in sentences by the time I get down to Mexico. I set up a pay pal so I can receive donations to help me pay for daily expenses while I am biking through Mexico and Central America. I need to start packing soon and need to find all of the necessities I need. I will be leaving in the beginning of January. I am really excited and nervous. I know I am going to discover a lot about the world and about myself.

Preparing for my bicycle trip through Mexico and Central America

So I am somewhat scared and unsure if I still want to go on this crazy but amazing trip. I think if I don't do it now I will never be able to do it...ever! So here goes nothing. I set up a paypal so all of my friends and family and everyone else that I haven't met yet could help me out on my adventure. I am going to bring my bike tools, a microkorg synthesizer which I haven't bought yet and some camping supplies. My mother really doesn't want me to go but I really want to go. I am 21 and old enough to make my own decisions. I will be biking through half of Mexico and pretty much all of Central America, If all goes according to plan. I am learning spanish on Rossetta Stone and I will be getting my immunizations soon. I am going to meet so many people and have an amazing adventure. Is it just pure stupidity or is it everything everyone wants to do in their lifetime? I will be going with the Ginger Ninjas. They are a bicycle powered band that travel by bicycle and power all of their equipment by generators hooked up on their bicycles. You can find out more at pleasantrevolution.net
